Fair Queen
The Fair Queen is required to assist with the following:
- events at this year’s Union County West End Fair,
- events at the following year’s Union County West End Fair until the conclusion of next year’s Pageant,
- the State Fair Queen Pageant, and
- at least 5 events per season.
The seasons are: August-December, January-May, and June-July. Three of each seasons’ events must be prepared, educational activities.
Below are a list of events; however, the Fair Queen is not limited to these events.
Fair Queen Required Events
This year’s Union County West End Fair
- Attend Livestock /Dairy Shows, assist with ribbons/pictures
- Attend Livestock Sale, picture with champion animals/buyers
- Attend Tractor Pulls, picture with class winners/best of show
- Picture with Exhibit Building Best of Show winners
- Meet/Photo-Op with Nightly Entertainment
- Work at least one shift in the Food Barn
- Kids Day “Meet the Queen” photo booth
- Kids Day Giant Ice Cream Sundae
- If 18 years of age, sell 50/50 tickets
Next year’s Union County West End Fair
- Assist with work nights/decorating/cleaning, etc.
- Car Show
- Vesper Service
- Deliver retiring address and crown new Fair Queen
- State Fair Queen Pageant*

Fair Queen Maximum Payout Available: $500.00
1st Alternate
The Runner-Up is required to assist with the following:
- events at this year’s Union County West End Fair,
- events at the following year’s Union County West End Fair until the conclusion of next year’s Pageant,
- at least 1 event per season, and
- work with the Fair Queen at events when she requests the help.
The seasons are: August-December, January-May, and June-July.
Below is a list of events; however, the Runner-Up is not limited to these events.
1st Alternate Required Events
This year’s Union County West End Fair
- Attend all events that queen in unable to attend
- Work in collaboration with Queen at events (i.e. Kids Day Photo Booth and if over 18 years of age, sell 50/50 tickets)
- Work at least one shift in The Food Barn
- Ticket Collector
- Meet/Photo-Op with Nightly Entertainment
Next year’s Union County West End Fair
- Assist with work nights/decorating/cleaning, etc.

Additional Events
- New Berlin Carnival Parade
- Mifflinburg Fireman’s Carnival Parade
- Event with Fred Keller/Gene Yaw
- Radio Appearances

Runner-Up Maximum Payout Available: $100.00
Payout Rules
- All payouts will be determined at the discretion of the Fair Queen Committee with the final approval of the Board of Directors. The payout will be given at the following year’s Fair Queen Pageant.
- If the Fair Queen Committee receives an invitation for the Fair Queen to attend an event, the offer to attend the event will be given to the Fair Queen first. If she responds that she cannot attend or does not respond to the invite within 72 hours, the offer will be given to the Runner-Up (with the exception of the State Pageant)
- The Fair Queen and Runner-Up will each be responsible for keeping a photo album, provided by the Fair Queen Committee immediately following the Fair Queen Pageant, of their activities. The albums will be given to the Fair Association at the end of their reign.
*The Queen will be notified by the Fair Queen Committee as soon as they know the details of the State Fair Queen Pageant. As required by the State Fair Queen Committee, a parent/guardian must attend the State Pageant with the Fair Queen, as the Fair Queen’s chaperone overnight. A member of the Fair Queen Committee will also serve as the chaperone, but only during the daytime-hours and not while the Fair Queen is in her hotel room.
**The Fair Queen and Runner-Up are encouraged to complete additional activities that are not found on the suggested activities list. The Fair Queen Committee must be notified of these additional activities at least 72 hours prior to the event taking place.
